A perfect partner is someone who learns and teaches in igual measure!  

 

We wanted to stay close to home, and finding Fenix has been a massive piece of the jigsaw for Bacano—a small, independently family-run Roasters with generations of knowledge and experience in coffee. 

Fenix has been way more than a place to roast. They opened their doors and welcomed us with open arms. Every visit, we learn more about coffee, leaving us more intelligent but with more questions and always more motivated than before. 

It is great to work with people who love what they do and can inspire you to do better. 

The owner Cesar created the company to offer an opportunity for farms in the region to produce their own coffee with their own brand. Something that Bacano is proud to take advantage of and is grateful for all the guidance and support.

Ycir 

 

Ycir is the second-generation owner and keeper of Los Desos, the Farm in Santa Clara Magdalena, where all our coffee is grown.

Without Ycir, there would be no bacano. He is integral to the culture and direction of the company. 

He has brought us into and opened our eyes to his world; teaching us how he works and what he wants in life has helped fuel our passion to grow. It can not be easy talking to a "gringo" and making them feel their opinion is valued even when they know nothing is a great quality. This kind of openness and trust in a partnership is critical to the success of Bacano.

We forged a friendship with Ycir after meeting him in a neighbouring village not far from his own, which we were visiting to learn about coffee and the region. It was clear from the moment we met him that he had a passion for coffee and a drive to create his path.

Ycir was the one who answered all our questions, keen to give his opinion and listen to ours in equal measure. You know you have met the right person when their enthusiasm rubs off onto you. This was certainly the case with Ycir.
